Announcement: Gridal to cease service on 1st December 2024
Published: 29/11/2024
Gridal, the daily A-League grid game, will present its final grid on Saturday 30th November 2024 and will cease to render grids as of 11am AEDT on Sunday 1st December 2024.
Over the past 500 days, Gridal has provided A-League Men's fans with a daily puzzle game to test their A-League knowledge.
Despite some initial personal doubts over the concept's viability, Gridal instead spread like wildfire throughout the A-League community, both on social media and by word-of-mouth.
In the initial days of Gridal's release, many thousands of people were completing each day's grid and, over the life of Gridal, A-League fans have completed more than 600,000 grids, covering all teams (active and inactive) and a diverse range of statistical categories.
However, all good things must eventually come to an end.
Over the past few months, the number of players completing grids has become fewer and fewer. That significant drop in demand — in conjunction with the time, effort, and financial impacts of supporting it — has led to the decision that Gridal will serve its final grid to players on Saturday 30th November 2024.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the A-League community for playing and spreading the word about Gridal. Also, a big thank you to my initial beta testers for helping to iron out the majority of kinks before Gridal went live to the public in July 2023.
The Gridal website will remain active until the end of 2024, with users able to view and copy their personal statistics if they so choose.
